The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Food – Skopje was established in 1947 as one of the founders of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and it is one of the oldest and biggest higher education and scientific institutions in the country, dealing in the area of agricultural sciences. Its main focus is producing, education and training of agricultural engineers, so up until today there are more than 8100 graduates, over 540 students with Master degree, and more than 260 PhD students. The number of students enrolled every year is in total around 800 students. In its long tradition, the faculty has achieved fruitful teaching, scientific research and application work, as we as active international cooperation.
The imperative of the faculty is also to meet the requirements of modern agricultural production, and at the same time sustainable use of natural resources and the protection of the environment.

The faculty is organized under and operates within the legal framework for higher education (Law on higher education, Law for scientific activity, Law for technological development, Statute of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, as well as other internal by-laws and acts). In order to fulfil its mission and aims determined by the legal regulation, it employs 102 staff members as academic and administrative personnel. In terms of its capacity, the Faculty has also introduced the Quality Management System (MKS EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2018) as a basis for its scientific and applicative activities. Based on this standard, the Faculty has 5 accredited laboratories. Beside this, the Faculty is organized in 7 internal units (institutes), such as: Institute for agricultural economics, Institute for crop production, Institute for animal biotechnology, Institute for food, Institute for management of natural resources, Institute for plant protection and agriculture machinery and Institute for fruit production and viticulture. Each institute is further consisted of departments and laboratories. In addition, the faculty has established two limited liabilities companies under the Company Law, i.e. the Company for research and permanent education in the agriculture, and the Company – Field (experimental) trial in Lisice.
