The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is the largest university in Greece covering all disciplines. (https://www.auth.gr/en). It is widely recognized as a vibrant center of learning which draws its inspiration from a long tradition of academic achievement. The main campus is located in the centre of the city of Thessaloniki, and covers an area of about 33.4 hectares. Approximately 74,000 students study at the Aristotle University, 3952 at Doctoral level.

It comprises 10 faculties which consist of 40 schools and 1 single-school faculty, operating 61 clinics (Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine) and 295 laboratories.

The Laboratory of Computing, Medical Informatics and Biomedical-lmaging Technologies (LOMI) at the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was founded in 1990 (initially under the title of computing and medical informatics, with the later extension of biomedical imaging) and since then has possessed a continuous role in Medical Informatics, Personalised Healthcare and Biomedical Engineering research and development. Through its direct link to university clinics of Aristotle University, the team has the ability to develop state-of-the art ICT solutions which truly meet health professionals and users’ requirements, as well as evaluate the outcomes through trials and pilots in real-life environments. The lab has been running since 1998 the graduate programme in Medical Informatics.

LOMI has participated as core partner or scientific coordinator in more than 20 National and European projects.
