Solid waste and wastewater management are considered to be among the major environmental elements to be tackled through the contamination of air, soil and surface and ground waters and the subsequent degradation of the local natural ecosystems. The need for recovery of natural resources through recycling actions and treatment of solid wastes and wastewaters characterizes the eligible area on both sides of the border.
The project’s overall objective is to improve the solid waste and wastewater management, with special focus to the promotion of recycling and biological wastes separation at source and treatment.
Specifically, the project includes the elaboration of several studies, concerning specific issues about biological wastes, and training actions in order to support recycling actions of biological wastes. These outputs are seen as complementary and enhancing the effectiveness of the project’s core interventions that include the following;
- Pilot composting plants and bio-wastes collection system
- Remediation of the waste water station in Sveti Nikole
- Study for improvement of the organic waste collection in Municiaplity of Prilep and surrounding municipalities
