UKLO is the second state university in the country, it is founded in 1979. UKLO, in its composition, comprises of 16 members (11 faculties and 3 institutions, 1 national library and 1 dormitory). University units are located in Bitola, Prilep, Ohrid, Veles, Kicevo and Skopje, but most of them are situated in the region of Bitola, Prilep and Ohrid.
The Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies, as a new member of UKLO, has started to function at the beginning of the academic 2014/2015. The faculty is located in Bitola, but it has dispersed study programs in Prilep and Veles. FICT has 22 educational-scientific and 13 administrative-technical staff.

FICT within the UKLO, is the only educational and research institution in the field of computer science and engineering. The Faculty develops incredibly enriched pursuits in several areas:

•Graduate degree (first cycle academic studies)
•Post-graduate studies (second cycle of university studies)
•Doctoral studies (third cycle of university studies)
•Scientific and research work (fundamental, development and applicative, national and international projects)
 
Faculty staff have different areas of interest: health and medical informatics, biomedical engineering, IoT (internet of things), distributed systems, etc. They have been included in various (national and international) project like TEMPUS, FP7.

The strategy of the faculty is to become a leader in the field of information technology in the region, as well as to support students in terms of acquiring knowledge and skills in information technology to start their own business that would contribute to development of the economy. Development of international cooperation is the strategic plan of the faculty, with particular focus on establishing active cross-border cooperation with universities from Greece.
