The municipality of Sidiki was established under the law Ν.3852/10 and constitutes one of the seven municipalities of the regional unit (prefecture) of Serres, in central Macedonia. It has a population of approximately 22.000 citizens encompassing 1.103 km² in area. It consists of a human-geographic unit in a very important location due to the fact that it is a major entrance gate from Southeast Europe.
Also, it has a number of strong advantages, since within its borders are located the biggest part of Lake Kerkini, important mountain ranges, settlements of architectural interest, the well-known forts of Roupel and Istibei, as well as two quite important spa towns, that of Sidirokastro and that of Agistro.
